The sheets are cut. To select multiple page packing, the Kern cutters are equipped with optical mark reading or bar code reading. The cut documents are then folded and enveloped. Pages not required to be mailed can be processed by the Kern 658 Mailing System. An optical mark reader registers the marks an the documents and controls a divertion flap accordingly. The diverted documents are deviated into a tray for special handling. Multiple documents can be collated for individual customers. The integrated folding system allows for combinations of cross and parallel folds. Enclosures are nested within the fold of the main document.
